Getting Around

To help you navigate with ease through what will be a wonderful time in Spain, we’ve put together a unique list of recommendations on how to jet around Barcelona and Girona.

You can easily get around Barcelona using the metro, Uber, or taxis. Metro stations have ticket machines with multiple language options, and purchasing tickets is straightforward and user-friendly.

Barcelona: Airport to City

  • A1 or A2 Aerobús

Most convenient and affordable option, 7.45€ (one-way) or 12.45€ (round trip, valid for 90 days) per person. Ticket purchasing: online in advance or in-person at kiosk of arrival’s hall. Frequency: every 5-10 minutes. Pickup: from the arrival’s hall, take the escalator down to the ground floor, where the buses are parked outside, clearly marked with blue signs. Duration: 30-40 minutes to center of Barcelona.

  • Car rentals

Various rental companies including Hertz, Europcar, and Enterprise. Rental prices: ~50€ or more per day.

No International Driving Permit (IDP) required, ask for hybrid or electric due to laws, and select manual or automatic transmission.

Barcelona City to Girona

Direct train to Girona via Renfe Avant (Spain's railway company). Duration: 45 minutes. Price: 10-12€ each way, purchase ticket(s) at the station.

- Eixample neighborhood: Europcar

Drive: 105 km / 65 mi which typically takes 1:30 - 2 hours.

Girona: Airport or Train Station to Venue

Car rentals:

Various rental companies including Hertz, Europcar, and Sixt are based both at the Girona (GRO) airport and the Renfe Avant train station. Rental prices vary.

Uber app works great in Barcelona but not in Girona, however taxis are available.
